International Student Biennale of Art of Book [s] BUK2: PHOTO BOOK
Artget Gallery
12. 11 – 3. 12. 2020.
This year’s second International Student Biennale of Art of Book [s] BUK2 will be held in November at the Gallery of Students’ City Cultural Centre and the Artget Gallery of the Cultural Centre of Belgrade. The exhibition presents works of students from Serbia, as well as the countries in the region, Europe and Asia (Italy, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Lithuania, Singapore, Portugal, Spain, Columbia, Sri Lanka, etc.).
In addition to 49 works in the previous category Artist Book (DK Studentski grad), this year in the newly introduced category Photo Book (Artget Gallery) 23 works are exhibited. The works were selected by voting of expert art juries. Due to objective impossibility of their sending, works of certain authors will be presented in digital form. The exceptional diversity of works in terms of idea and art expression testifies to an increasing interests of young artists for this medium and their attempt to overcome the strict definition of a book as a final object.
In addition to the works submitted to the competition, a special guest (in digital form and online) in the Photo Book category is the Department of Photography and New Media of the Academy of Arts and Design in Bratislava (Slovakia) with the works of its students under the pedagogical guidance of doc. Mgr.art. Olja Triaška Stefanović, Art and Mgr.art Juraj BlaskoArtD.
An integral part of [s] BUK2 Biennale is a programme of workshops and lectures, which involves guests – artists and lecturers from abroad; however, due to the present epidemiological situation, the accompanying programme of this year’s exhibition will be realised via online platform.

The first such collaboration on the topic of art of book was realised through the exhibition entitled Touch it please!, organised at the beginning of 2016, which was followed by another exhibition – The Book is the Fastest Way to Become Light – held towards the end of the same year. The exhibition connected ten art faculties from Poland, Slovakia, Belgium, Estonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Serbia, and in 2018 initiated a creation of a biennial event, whose aim was to foster the art book medium in the art faculties in Serbia and around the world, promote it and bring it closer to a broader audience.
