The three authors provide their own perspectives on everyday life. Spreading over the period of one and a half generation, they provide insight into a term so charged with meaning that it can hardly be processed.
A Perspective on Kosovo.
Photographs by Biljana Dobrić belong to her personal photographic practice from the late 1980s and early 1990s. Mainly belonging to the private domain, while reaching towards the political at times, they paint a very precise picture of the times before the catastrophe.
Milan Dobrić’s perspective captures Kosovska Mitrovica. Recording traces of life, reaching out towards its margins with his gaze and creating a world to his own measure, he provides a double insight: one raw and documentary and the other, contemplative one.

“In order to be able to live and survive normally, everyone had to crate one’s own bubble around her/himself, outside of which everything remained hazy and vague, just like in these photos. How could one believe in the truth when there are so many versions of it? Every day we read of a different reality as of a blurred truth and it renders us paralyzed” – Milena Petronijević.
Conveying the sense of the space in which they live through images, these three authors provide insight into the shift towards utter subjectivity and the creation of perception after oneself.
Milena Petronijević was born in Leposavić in 1999, and is in the final year of the graphic design programme, department of Book Graphics at the Faculty of Philology and Art in Kragujevac. During her studies she acquired interest in other artistic media, such as graphics and photography. She strives to widen her artistic expression into other art media. She has, thus far, participated in many group exhibitions.
Milan Dobrić (1991) was born in Kosovska Mitrovica where he finished primary, secondary and college education. He is currently a student of an MA programme at the Department of Graphic Design of the Faculty of Arts of the University in Pristina with the temporary headquarters in Kosovska Mitrovica. His engagement with photography began in high school, as a hobby, yet partially also as a profession, as he was taking photos of different events in Kosovska Mitrovica and its vicinity. He won a number of awards in photographic competitions, and he had a number of solo and group exhibitions. He is the owner of a small business venture which deals with multimedia (graphic and web design, photography and video production). Additionally, he is the director of a local NGO which deals with entrepreneurship and informal education of young people in Kosovo.
Biljana Dobrić (1965) was born in Kosovska Mitrovica and studied at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade (1983-1987). She has worked as an English language teacher in the Grammar School in Kosovska Mitrovica since 1987. She is a mother of four. She has various hobbies: singing in a church choir, photography, studying the languages and cultures of China and Japan, as well as different handiwork techniques and crafts (crocheting, knitting, embroidery and making objects of recycled materials). The photographs exhibited here were mainly made during and immediately after her university studies.
