AUSTRIAN FILM FESTIVAL: THE LEGENDARNY AND THE DISCOVERED

The Austrian Film Festival 2023 will take place from April 20 to 25, 2023 in several cities in Serbia. This year, two parallel program selections stand out – “LegendArni – films for all time” which include a selection of seven classics with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role, and “Discovered – films of the new time” – a selection of seven contemporary Austrian films of recent production. The selector of this year’s edition of the Austrian Film Festival is director and professor Milutin Petrović. The festival is held in Belgrade (Culture Center of Belgrade, Yugoslav Cinema, Cineplexx Gallery), Novi Sad (Cineplexx Promenada, Cineplexx Arena), Kragujevac (Cineplexx BIG) and Niš (Cineplexx in cooperation with the Niš Cultural Center) with individual screenings in other cities as well. will be announced later. The festival’s guest of honor will be the Austrian director Adrian Goiginger, whose film “Above the World” opens the contemporary part of the festival on April 21. in the Cultural Center of Belgrade. Adrian Goiginger will on Saturday 22.4. hold a masterclass for film students at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. On April 20, the Yugoslav Cinematheque will host a promotion of the publication “LegendArni” made up of essays by Serbian filmmakers (Aleksandar S. Janković, Milutin Petrović, Biljana Maksić, Saša Radojević, Vladimir Slavica, Zoran Stefanović) written on the occasion of the retrospective, which will be followed by a screening of the movie “Conan the Barbarian” (John Milius, 1982). The following day, on April 21, a gathering of representatives of the Serbian and Austrian film industry will be held in the Yugoslav Cinematheque for the purpose of exchanging ideas and planning joint projects under the name Pro-Logue. Cooperation was also achieved with the Faculty of Applied Arts, whose students made proposals for visual design for the festival and whose poster proposals will be exhibited during the festival. In addition to Serbian subtitles, all contemporary films will also have an English translation, and dozens of young volunteers from all cities where the festival is held will be involved in the organization. This year, the partners of the Austrian Cultural Forum at the festival are the Cultural Center of Belgrade, the Yugoslav Cinematheque, the Niš Cultural Center and Cineplexx Serbia, with the great support of the companies A1, Zorka Keramika, Grawe osiguranje, Lesnina, Podgorina and Erste Bank.
