The Lübeck based klezmer and world music ensemble impresses with its mixture of their own arrangements of traditional klezmer standards and more modern compositions. Junaït’s music lives from their great stylistic flexibility; influences of classical music can be heard as well as traces of contemporary music, Arabic music and jazz.
Founded in the autumn of 2022, the ensemble has benefited greatly from the intensive work with Prof. Bernd Ruf, professor of popular music at the Lübeck University of Music, who, among other things, has guided them to a creative and free approach to notated music and a very expressive way of playing.
In order to reach the audience in a personal manner, improvisation is very important to the musicians and an elementary component of their music. Despite complex arrangements, they manage to react spontaneously to the audience and take them on an exciting musical journey.
