24th International Festival “The Days of Organ – Dies organorum”: LORENZO GHIELMI and the Choir of the Artistic Ensemble “Stanislav Binički”

The opening concert of the 24th Festival Days of Organ with renowned organist and Bach music expert, professor Lorenzo Ghielmi is reflecting the composers and performers thoughts about relations of the sounds of human voice and organ. This concert is organized in cooperation with The Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binički“ and supported by the Italian Cultural Institute Belgrade.

Biography:
Lorenzo Ghielmi has devoted himself for years to the study and performance of Renaissance and Baroque music. He is one of the most successful interpreters of Bach’s organ and harpsichord work. He gives concerts all over Europe, Russia, Japan, Korea and the Americas and has made numerous radio recordings and for an extensive discography (Passacaille, Winter & Winter, Harmonia mundi, Teldec).
He has published a book on Nicolaus Bruhns, papers and studies on organ-building of the sixteenth and seventeenth century, on the interpretation of the works of Bach and other composers of the Baroque period.
He teaches organ, harpsichord and ensemble music at the Civica Scuola di Musica di Milano. From 2006 to 2015 he has been Professor of Organ at the Schola Cantorum in Basel.
He is the titular organist of the Ahrend organ of the Milanese basilica of San Simpliciano, where he performed the complete organ work by J.S. Bach. He is part of the jury of numerous international organ competitions and is entrusted with lectures and masterclasses from important musical institutions. He has also supervised the construction of several new organs, including the great instrument of the Tokyo Cathedral. In 1985 he was among the founders of the Giardino Armonico. In 2005 he started the ensemble La Divina Armonia, with which he has given concerts at many European and Japanese festivals.

Stefan Zekić (Belgrade, 1983) is assistant professor of Conducting Faculty of Music in Belgrade and Opera conductor at the National Theatre of Belgrade. He graduated from the Faculty of  Music – University of Arts in Belgrade in two departments: in the department for conducting and department for solo singing. Additional education includes training and workshops.
In 2006 and he is the chief conductor of the Baruch Brothers Choir, and won numerous national and international rewards at the prestige festivals and competitions. He started his engagement as an Opera conductor at the National Theatre of Belgrade in 2009. His first performance – Le nozze di Figaro (W. A. Mozart) was withal the best performance for the season 2009/10.  In 2014. he became a conductor of the Opera studio of the National Theatre.
He is a member of the jury of the international competition for composers Portraits and Memories, lecturer and conductor at international festivals International master class and competition IMVAJ (Israel) и Master class and competition  Neustadter Meistersingerkurs (Germany). He also performed a notable concerts in cooperation with many different ensembles such as Madrigal Choir and Symphony Orchestra of University of Arts in Belgrade, Vocal Ensemble Oktoih, Musica (Slovenia), Vocal Ensemble Marienhain (Germany), St. George Royal Strings, Jewish Chamber Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra Stanislav Binički, Montenegro Symphony orchestra, etc.
He’s the founder and artistic manager of the ensemble for early music Canticum novum, conductor of the Jewish Chamber Orchestra since its founding and director of the international Rosi fest.
