Biography:
VooDoo piano duo was founded in late 2012, when pianists Vuk Božilović and Dušan Grozdanović were at their first year of studies at the Faculty of Music Art in the class of associate professor Sonja Lončar. In 2021, they enrolled in doctoral studies at the Department of Chamber Music, also in the class of prof. Lončar. Number of their concerts and projects is already commendable, and the domestic scene was, of course, only a starting point from which they have expanded their activities throughout Europe and China. They actively participate in festivals, among which are the Festival junger Künstler Bayreuth, Keyboard days, KULT and Bolshoi, while at the FESTUM 2015 festival they performed for the first time as soloists with the Belgrade Young Symphonics Orchestra, conducted by Radan Jovanović. In their career so far, they have performed a large number of full-length recitals, including concerts held in 2019 in Chengdu, China, as well as concerts in 2021 when they successfully held two recitals in the Great Concert Hall of the Kolarac Endowment, one as part of a new cycle and the other as part of Kolarac’s traditional Promenade Concerts which represents the culmination of their artistic achievement.
Awarded multiple times for their artistic work, Vuk and Dušan promote classical music through various projects. A prominent place is occupied by as many as forty (40) concerts with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, organized for babies and children under the direction of conductors Felix Mildenberger and Ivan Marković. Also, the duo works intensively on promoting Serbian artistic music creation. A special collaboration stands out with young composer Igor Andrić whose Concerto for Two Pianos and Chamber Orchestra they premiered with Muzikon’s accompaniment at Kolarac in 2022. Performing compositions by Stanko Simić, Jovana Backović, and Momčilo Petrović, they were awarded the title of laureate of the “First Competition in Performing Contemporary Serbian Music for Piano” organized by the Ensemble for New Music Gradilište in 2023. Years of work in promoting domestic creativity reached the peak in June 2023 with the release of a CD entitled “Revelation” , which features works by Serbian composers intended for piano duos and is supported by SOKOJ.
They attended masterclasses by the famous “Bizjak duo” (Lidija and Sanja Bizjak) as well as the “LP duo” (Sonja Lončar and Andrija Pavlović). Festival junger Künstler in Bayreuth proved to be very significant for their career, there they held three concerts in 2022 and even seven the following year, three of which were performed with the accompaniment of the Youth Chamber Orchestra from Turkmenistan. Vuk and Dušan are the winners of the “Olivera Đurđević” award for the most successful chamber ensemble at the Faculty of Music Art in 2017.
