Biography:
Stefan Sretić, DMA (1993) graduated and finished his master studies at the Faculty of Arts in Niš in 2015, in the class of prof. Aleksandar Serdar, MA, as the best generation student. He completed his specialist piano studies in 2016 at the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade, also in the class of prof. Aleksandar Serdar, MA. He received his doctoral degree in 2021 in the class of prof. Dorian Leljak, PhD, making him the first Doctor of Arts from the piano department in the history of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. He is the winner of many awards at Republican and International pianist competitions, among which the most significant are: I prizes at Republican competitions in Belgrade – 2001, 2003, 2005 (Laureate), 2009; I prizes at International Young Pianists’ Festival in Šabac – 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004; I prizes at International Competitions in Niš – 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 (Laureate); I prize, Laureate at International competition “Gradus ad Parnassum” in Kragujevac (2005). He has won remarkable results in the field of chamber music, too. He participated in masterclass seminars of Boris Kraljević (Montenegro), Aleksandar Serdar (Serbia), Hinko Haas (Slovenia), Sergei Senkov (Russia) and David Westphol (USA). He won the St. Petka Foundation’s money prize for the results achieved at the national and international competitions in 2007. In the same year, he received a scholarship from the ART Foundation and the Tobacco Industry Niš. He received a money prize from the city of Niš as the best student of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Niš in 2013 for his outstanding success during his studies. He is the winner of the scholarsip Dositeja for the best students in 2014 and 2015, awarded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia. In 2016 he received the Diploma of the University of Niš as the best graduate student of the Faculty of Arts in Niš. He has performed in several cities in the country and abroad. In 2005 he played as the Laureate of Republican competition at the concert in Kolarac Hall. In 2006, he performed at the First Royal Concert at the White Palace at the invitation of His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Alexander, where he received a Degree in artistic achievement and a musical talent. In 2008, he performed at concerts in Macedonia (Bitola, Štip, Skopje). In 2014, he performed at the jubilee 40th Niš Music Festival. As a soloist, he collaborated with Niš conductors: Ivana Mirović, MA, Vladan Karadzov, MA, Zoran Stanisavljević, MA, Milena Injac, PhD and Miroslav Ivanković, MA. He performed with Niš Symphony Orchestra, at pedagogical concerts in 2008, and then at Concert season 2015/2016 opening. In 2016, he performed at V “Evmelia” International Festival in Volos, Greece, as a soloist and chamber musician (duo eufonium-piano). The same year, he held a full-length solo recital in Vrnjci Spa. In 2018, he again performed as a soloist accompanied by Niš Symphony Orchestra. The same year, he held a recital and a masterclass on “piano technique and interpretation” at the Music Academy in Štip, Macedonia. He composed original music for three short-length films: “Mosaic” (2014), “Walk by the Sun” (2016) for which he won the Best Original Music Award at the “London Independent Film Awards” festival, and “The Silence Hits” (2015) for which he received an award for Best Original Music Music at the “Moondance” International Film Festival in Bolder, Colorado. He also composed the song “Remembering” for the album “Heaven Is always and for good” in the release of PGP RTS, which was subsequently performed live at the Sava Center in Belgrade and at a concert at the National Theater in Niš. He composed music for the official advertisement of the Academy of Arts in Belgrade. Since 2018, he has been working as an assistant at the Faculty of Arts in Niš. He is a member of the Mensa Serbia.
