Biography:
Sara Stamatović was born on May 8, 2000, in Podgorica, Montenegro. She completed her primary and secondary music education in Nikšić at the “Dara Čokorilo” Music School, under the guidance of Professor Milica Joković. Sara pursued her undergraduate and master’s studies under the mentorship of Professor Lidija Stanković at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, where she is currently enrolled in doctoral studies under her supervision.
Sara has won over 30 awards in national and international competitions. Some of her notable achievements include: First Prize at the International Music Competition “Fantast” in 2015, the Golden Lyre at the 42nd Montenegrin Youth Music Festival in 2015, the Golden Lyre at the 43rd Montenegrin Youth Music Festival in 2016, Second Prize at the 29th “Concours FLAME” in Paris in 2018, First Prize at the International Competition Banja Luka Biennale in 2022, First Prize at the International Competition “Trebinje Classic” in 2023, First Prize at the International Competition “Davorin Jenko” in Belgrade in 2023, and Second Prize at the International Piano Competition “Matusja Blum Memorial” in Sarajevo in 2024.
Sara has performed in prestigious venues, including the Cultural Centre of Belgrade (Artget Gallery), the Student Cultural Center in Belgrade, KIC “Budo Tomović” in Podgorica, the Church of the Holy Spirit in Kotor, the Cultural Centre of Tivat, the Church of St. Leopold in Herceg Novi, the Nikšić Theater, the Trebinje Cultural Centre, the Stari Grad Cultural Institution (Parobrod) in Belgrade, the Kolarac Endowment in Belgrade, the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, the Banski Dvor Cultural Center in Banja Luka, the “Casa di Riposo per Musicisti” in Milan, the City Conservatory of Paris, and the Montenegrin Music Center in Podgorica.
She has attended masterclasses with prominent pianists such as Yuriy Kot, Rita Kinka, Azra Medić, and Gil Sullivan. Sara is the recipient of the 2023 Best Student Award from the Municipality of Nikšić and the “Dositeja” Scholarship for Young Talents.
